Places to Eat

These are dumplings done right. I don’t think there is anything to say except it is delicious dumplings. The classic pork and cabbage ones are amazing and there is a few more innovative exciting flavours to try as well, and don’t miss the dessert dumplings served with ice cream. Plus service is super friendly

If you see an unreasonably long line in the middle of the street you have come to the right place. You first have to stand in line for a table and then stand in line to order. But the experience of eating a refreshing mango sago, a kind of creamy dessert soup, on a small plastic stool in the street in sweltering Singapore heat is worth it

I think this place combines all the things I love. It has a (kind of)secret entrance, it has a rooftop, a really cool staircase, awesome cocktails and really nice food.. And it has potato in its name. What else could you want? Oh, and it is located in tanjong pagar in a neighbourhood with really cute colonial houses. The different floors are themed differently and you can order food at any level. I would go for the rooftop, but you might want to opt for inside with the air condition…

A cafe specialising in deli sandwiches? In New York this might be one in a dozen, but in Singapore high quality sandwiches is a bit of more of a rare find, plus these are good and often with a twist. Pictures is the grilled kimchi cheese, do I need to say more? Just go here for your next lunch or why not for picnic takeaway?

Eating meat on the street? Yes please. The service is atrocious, they basically just want you to order as soon as possible, but the satay is tasty and the peanut sauce is out of this world. It is fairly touristy, but still worth a visit. My favourite is no 7&8 and pro tip is to bring your own napkins.

This is one of the exceptions to my no chains rule. It is a japenese tonkatsu chain, but it is too good not to mention. It’s done just right and the service is so cute and helpful! And you get everything served on japanese trays with so many tasty condiments

This place is aptly named, as it is one of the cooler cafes I have ever seen. It is a historical building and used to be a chinese medical free clinic, but now obviously a cafe. It is worth going here for the atmosphere alone, but the service is really good to and you can get a charcuterie tray while you’re at it

Places to Drink

This may be one of my favourite bars in the world. Not many people know of it, not even singaporians. This in my mind is a much better roof top bar option compared to the marina bay sands one, it is not overcrowded with tourists and not unreasonably overprices. Located on the top of the national gallery (yes, you have to enter the museum after close to take the elevator up) you get cool drinks and an awesome view overlooking the marina

Another cute rooftop bar! Singapore has really understood how good rooftop bars are, and this one seems aimed at a after work crowd, and has a very cool vibe of local professional and expats

IMG_1704.jpg

This bar has been creeping up the list of best bars in the world, but it means that now a reservation in advance is a must! The building itself makes it worth a visit, and when you are sipping a gin and tonic from their gin library (yes, that pillar in the middle is just gins) in the cool aircondition and art deco style building you forget both the time and place you are at

This is a small place with unexpected cocktails, I might even go as far to say weird. For example the one on the picture is a soy bean cocktail served in a bowl, but is surprisingly one of the tastier cocktails I have had. The cozy atmosphere and great drinks makes it worth a visit

Places to Stay

This hotel gets constantly featured in posts, due to its incorporation of greenery in the building. I can’t speak for how environmentally friendly that makes it, but is definitely looks cool. It is also maybe the most conveniently located hotel to explore Singapore. Within walking distance from many things and with excellent bus and metro connections just outside. Oh, and the staff here has a professional calm all over their service…

This is a really cute boutique hotel in a renovated colonial house. Also comes with a shared kitchen and laundry area, all in a warm minimalist style. The whole area is in the traditional Singaporean colonial style, making it worth a visit even if you are not staying here, as the hotel has several nice dining options.

The interior of this hotel is stunning! In a renovated storage facility close to Robertson key, it is centrally located but just outside of central. If you can handle the price tag, this is the place to stay. Especially because of the pool that almost looks like it is floating in mid air

This is very much a value for money hotel, which is why I often end up staying here. It is located in Robertson Key, so close to the areas I like, and rooms are light and airy in a loft style, utilizing that valuable singapore space and giving each room huge windows. It also has a pool for those hot afternoons when you can’t take the Singapore heat anymore

Singapore is the foodie wonderland of Asia, with so many cultures mixing, each bringing their own cuisine and an established street food culture, it serves up some of the best and most varied food in the world. Covering Michelin star fine dining down to eating grilled meat on the street and everything in between. So if you want to eat all the asian food at once (as well as some other cuisines) this is the place to go.
